Mis Trucos is a modern Mediterranean tapas bar set in a character house in the heart of the Davie Street shopping district. Chef Kris Barnholden combines classic French, Spanish and Italian recipes with fresh local ingredients and his own modern twists.

Chef/Owner Kris Barnholden grew up in Kitsilano, and with such an early passion for the restaurant industry, it's no surprise that his first job was washing dishes at a local eatery. He graduated from the VCC Culinary Arts program in 1996, and went on to work his way through some of the top kitchens in Vancouver, Montreal and the UK.

Some of Kris' kitchens of note include working alongside Chef Bruce Poole at London's Michelin-starred Chez Bruce (2000), Chef Joe Mercuri at Montreal's famed Brontë (2005), and Chef Audrey Durbach at Vancouver's Lucy Mae Brown (2002 - 2004) and Parkside (2008 - 2009). Kris's philosophy towards food is simple: a concise dish consisting of only a few components and made with top quality ingredients will always be greater than the sum of its parts. This philosophy as well as his personality shows on the plates at Mis Trucos - simple Mediterranean-style cooking.
